Venezuela’s Acting President on India Visit to Boost Bilateral Ties ...
Venezuela’s Acting President Delcy Rodríguez has arrived in India on a five-day official visit from June 3 to June 7. The visit aims to strengthen bilateral relations between India and Venezuela, with a special focus on energy security, trade, investment, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, transportation, and renewable energy. During her visit, Rodríguez is scheduled to hold high-level talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Hyderabad House in New Delhi. She will also meet External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar to discuss ways to expand cooperation between the two countries. As part of her official engagements, the Venezuelan leader will pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat. The Venezuelan delegation accompanying her includes representatives from several key ministries, highlighting the importance of the visit. India and Venezuela share strong economic ties, particularly in the energy sector. India remains one of the largest buyers of Venezuelan crude oil, importing around 427,000 barrels per day as of May 2026. Indian public sector companies have also invested in Venezuela’s energy industry. The visit is expected to provide fresh momentum to India-Venezuela relations and open new opportunities for cooperation across multiple sectors. Both nations are likely to discuss measures to deepen strategic and economic partnerships while enhancing mutual trade and investment prospects.
