The 35-year-old, who has not been named, was spearfishing with family off Michaelmas Island, south-east of Perth, when he was attacked at 11:25 local time (03:25 GMT) on Saturday, police said. He was taken by boat to shore where he was met by paramedics, who were unable to revive him. Police said they would prepare a report for the coroner, in a statement shared by local media.
