PM Modi Leaves for UAE as Six-Day 5-Nation Tour Begins
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has begun an important five-nation diplomatic tour starting with the United Arab Emirates. The six-day visit will also include stops in the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, and finally Italy. The tour is being seen as a major step toward strengthening India’s international partnerships, especially in energy, trade, and strategic cooperation. The Prime Minister has already departed for the UAE, where discussions are expected to focus heavily on energy security and economic relations. During the visit, PM Modi is likely to hold talks with UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Several important agreements are expected to be discussed, particularly related to LPG supplies and strategic petroleum reserves. According to reports, India’s Indian Oil Corporation may sign an LPG-related agreement with Abu Dhabi National Oil Company. Another possible agreement could involve Indian Strategic Petroleum Reserves Limited and ADNOC to strengthen India’s oil reserve capacity. The Ministry of External Affairs stated that the visit aims to deepen strategic, cultural, and economic ties between India and the UAE. The Gulf nation remains one of India’s most trusted energy partners. Last year, the UAE became India’s fourth-largest supplier of crude oil, fulfilling nearly 11% of the country’s energy requirements. It is also India’s largest supplier of LPG, contributing around 40% of the nation’s LPG demand. Despite global tensions and disruptions caused by the Gulf War situation, the UAE has continued to support India’s energy needs. PM Modi’s visit is therefore considered highly significant for securing long-term energy cooperation and boosting bilateral relations between the two countries.
