Raipur’s young artist Uttam Sahu has brought pride to Raipur and the entire state of Chhattisgarh by representing the region’s traditional Terracotta art at the national-level cultural initiative “One State One Artist (OSOA)” held in Himachal Pradesh. The event took place in Nashala from May 1 to 9, 2026, and featured 38 talented young folk and traditional artists from different states across India.
The OSOA initiative was launched with the aim of preserving India’s rich folk and traditional art heritage while giving young artists a platform to showcase their talent at the national level. Uttam Sahu’s participation highlighted the unique cultural identity of Chhattisgarh through the state’s famous Terracotta art, which attracted attention from artists and audiences from across the country.
During the event, Uttam actively participated in workshops, cultural discussions, and collaborative art projects with artists from different regions. His work not only promoted Chhattisgarh’s artistic traditions but also encouraged cultural exchange among young creators from across India.
Another artist from Chhattisgarh, Surendra Soni, also represented the state by showcasing the famous Dhokra folk art. The initiative, conceptualized by young artist Prakash Garg, aimed to revive traditional folk arts through youth participation and national collaboration.
The fully sponsored program provided artists with a valuable opportunity to learn about different art forms, connect with fellow artists, and promote their regional heritage on a larger stage. Uttam Sahu’s achievement reflects the growing recognition of Chhattisgarh’s traditional art and shows how the state’s young artists are helping preserve and promote India’s cultural legacy at the national level.
