Authorities in Raipur and several other districts of Chhattisgarh have stepped up security measures at petrol pumps after long queues of vehicles were seen at fuel stations. According to the administration, people have been rushing to refill petrol and diesel due to rumors and public panic, even though fuel supplies remain stable.
To improve safety and ensure quick emergency response, Raipur Police has started placing emergency contact posters at petrol pumps and other important public locations. These posters display essential helpline numbers, including the police control room, local police station officers, and Dial-112 emergency services. The main goal is to help petrol pump operators and employees quickly contact authorities if they notice suspicious activity or face any criminal incident.
Police officials are also giving safety instructions to petrol pump staff. Employees have been advised to stay alert during nighttime operations, closely monitor suspicious individuals, ensure CCTV cameras remain active, and safely manage cash transactions to reduce security risks.
Meanwhile, Dr. Gaurav Singh recently held a meeting with oil company representatives and fuel dealers to review the situation. During the meeting, he instructed companies to maintain regular petrol and diesel supplies so the public does not face inconvenience. Oil depots have been directed to avoid delays in fuel distribution to dealers.
The administration has also temporarily extended fuel supply timings. Earlier, fuel deliveries were limited from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., but officials have now ordered longer operational hours until the situation becomes completely normal. In addition, fuel tankers have been allowed to move within the city 24 hours a day to prevent shortages at any petrol pump.
Authorities have further instructed petrol pumps to remain open for maximum possible hours to ensure easier access for citizens. The collector warned that strict action would be taken against anyone involved in black marketing or disrupting fuel supplies. Officials continue to assure residents that there is no shortage of petrol or diesel and that adequate stock is available across the city.
