NEET 2026 Leak Row: Rahul Gandhi Seeks Action Against Education Minister
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi strongly criticized the central government over the alleged NEET-UG 2026 paper leak, claiming that nearly 2.2 million students had been cheated and their futures placed at risk. He accused the government of failing to protect the integrity of the country’s education system and demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi immediately seek the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. In a video shared on social media platform X, Rahul Gandhi said millions of students had spent years preparing for the highly competitive medical entrance examination, only to see their hard work destroyed by repeated exam paper leaks. He alleged that the NEET paper had been circulating on WhatsApp two days before the examination and claimed the entire country was aware of the issue. Gandhi accused the BJP and RSS of creating an environment where corruption in the education sector continues unchecked. He further alleged that question papers had leaked dozens of times in recent years, affecting nearly 20 million young people across the country. According to him, repeated leaks have shattered students’ trust in the examination system and caused serious mental stress among aspirants. Gandhi also accused the government of appointing people linked to the RSS to important positions in universities and educational institutions, including vice-chancellors, which he claimed was damaging the credibility of the education system. Rahul Gandhi demanded strict action against everyone involved in the alleged paper leak and called for their immediate arrest. He said students deserve justice and urged the government to take accountability for the crisis. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge also expressed concern over the matter and highlighted reports of students allegedly dying by suicide after the controversy surfaced. In a post on X, Kharge mentioned several students from different states who reportedly took extreme steps following the shock and stress caused by the leak allegations. He criticized the government for not taking strong action against officials questioned in the 2024 NEET paper leak case and claimed that some of them were instead rewarded with influential positions. Kharge said the repeated failures in handling such incidents were robbing the youth of their future and weakening confidence in the country’s education system.
