Raipur May 17, 2026/ Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai inaugurated a regional Forensic Science Laboratory near Rajmahal in Raigarh during the ongoing Sushasan Tihar programme.
The new laboratory is expected to significantly strengthen scientific investigation and police examination systems in Raigarh, Sakti and Sarangarh-Bilaigarh districts by enabling faster and locally conducted forensic analysis in serious criminal cases. It is also equipped with a modern mobile forensic unit aimed at strengthening on-ground police investigation and evidence collection.
Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai said the state government is continuously working to strengthen law and order through modern technology and scientific investigation systems.
“In today’s time, crimes cannot be investigated effectively through conventional methods alone. Scientific evidence and forensic examination have become among the most effective tools for reaching offenders. The new FSL in Raigarh will make criminal investigation more efficient and provide substantial support to police agencies,” he added.
Finance Minister Shri OP Choudhary described the inauguration of the regional FSL as a historic step for Raigarh district stating that the state government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, is strengthening policing systems through modern technology and scientific resources. The laboratory will help make criminal investigation faster, more transparent and more effective. Availability of scientific testing at the local level will help ensure timely investigation reports and quicker justice delivery for victims.
Meanwhile, until now, police departments in the region had to send blood samples, viscera, slides, narcotic substances, chemicals and alcohol-related samples to the forensic laboratory in Bilaspur for examination, often leading to delays in investigation and disposal of cases.
Lok Sabha MP Shri Radheshyam Rathiya, Rajya Sabha MP Shri Devendra Pratap Singh, Raigarh Mayor Shri Jivardhan Chouhan, Collector Shri Mayank Chaturvedi, Senior Superintendent of Police Shri Shashi Mohan Singh, public representatives, administrative officials and local residents were present on the occasion.
